Businesses,
in many ways are organic, evolutionary "beings", that change
and evolve over time, subject to the trends, if not whims of
those involved. There are many companies that drive,
or at least feel that they drive the markets in which they
operate. All too often, however, this "inward-looking"
perspective can lead to disaster.
We have long believed that customers should
tell a company what it should do. By this we don't
mean that we should react to every "squeaky wheel" that
calls on the phone. It does, however mean that you
should react to consistent and ongoing feedback from
customers. In its simplest forms, watch what is
selling and react in those directions.
When
StyliSource.com was formed, the focus of its product
line and marketing was evenly split between personal users
of PDA's and handhelds. As time went on, the demand
shifted towards commercial styluses, with a growing emphasis
on "tethered" commercial styluses. This demand led the
company deeper into the retail, transportation and supply
chain markets, where it still achieves much of its sales.
This trend has proven to have deeper roots,
if not implications, that being of the growing presence of
an infinite variety of valuable, portable devices in our
lives, both professional and personal. Given the cost
of many of these devices, and/or the regularity with which
they are put to use, it is very often necessary to "tether"
them to keep them from being "mis-placed". To serve
this need beyond the stylus market,
e-Tether.com was
launched in 2008, and continues to grow its product line and
market presence today.
